NAPIT

reccThe Green Deal is the Government’s flagship initiative to increase the energy efficiency of British properties in both the public and private sector, launched on 28 January 2013. With commercial and domestic properties accounting for just under 50% of greenhouse gas emissions, this initiative will play a significant role in fulfilling the Government’s ambitious commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions 80% by 2050.

The Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC) are responsible for the Green Deal, although there is also significant overlap with the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) where work falls within the scope of the Building Regulations. Gemserv, in partnership with RECC, are the oversight body responsible for the Green Deal. They will principally monitor compliance with its associated Code of Practice and license the quality mark associated with the scheme.
