Air-source heat pumps work like a refrigerator in reverse

Air-sourced heat pumps take ambient air from outside
to reduce the energy needed to heat your home

Two panels are mounted externally in order to be exposed to all the natural elements

They can be fitted on a pitched roof, flat roof, vertical wall, or ground mounted.

The Bunsen unit itself is fitted as close to your existing or new hot water cylinder as possible. Ideal location will be established during your survey.

Whatever your existing heating system is you can leave it in place and simply switch it off, and just add the Bunsen Air. It will take over making all your hot water.

How does it work?

When a refrigerator runs, the heat is exchanged from the inside to the outside. The back of the fridge gets hot whilst the inside gets cold

With a Bunsen Air, the inside of your hot water tank gets hot, whilst the panels outside get cold

An Ozone friendly refrigerant which has a boiling point of -26°C, flows through the panels and back to the Bunsen Unit. The refrigerant leaves the Bunsen Unit as a cold liquid, as it passes through the panels the refrigerant absorbs heat energy and changes from a liquid to a ‘super-heated’ gas

On returning to the Bunsen Unit the gas is compressed back to a liquid, and the heat energy is transferred directly to your hot water

The panels are made from aluminium (lightweight and an excellent conductor of heat) and have a large surface area to increase the energy transfer. It works during heatwave and sun, and in snow and storm. It works in any and every UK weather condition, day and night, 24 hours a day – every day
